As a candidate, what would you assume seeing this?

This is a lengthy post, but it is necessary to experience it from the candidates point of view.  More commentary after the candidates experience:

In this example, the technology gets in the way of the hiring process.  Did the recruiter miss the appointment because of the ugly format?  What is your opinion of this company just based upon this exchange?

As a candidate, what would you assume seeing this?

Myths About Cybersecurity Careers

A great article by Charles Eaton at ITSP Magazine.

"...there are issues confounding and complicating raising the next generation of technologists. Seven myths about technology careers discourage potential teenage technologists and their parents. So, in my position as leader of a philanthropic organization dedicated to creating on-ramps to tech careers, I consider busting those myths not only a duty, but a pleasure.

Job Searches are frustrating enough without...

What is it that you'd say that you do here?

Job seekers have the deck stacked against them.  Strange requirements from HR/Recruiters, hiring managers that don't communicate with the recruiters/HR, ATS systems that have UI/UX designed by sociopaths, lazy "drift-net" recruiters cluttering up notifications & mailboxes.  Adding insult to injury, requests like this one that feel like "Do my job for me", for free.  Nothing about helping the seeker find a job, just a request to source candidates - on a platform designed for connecting seekers & employers, with no offer of finders fee or compensation.

It's time to have an honest talk about the "talent shortage"

There is a large body of "common knowledge" and press reports about the alleged Cyber-Security talent shortage.  We suggest that this "shortage" is, to a large degree, self-inflicted, based in no small part on what we hear at conferences, from friends, and our own experiences.

We will share accounts from candidates, crazy postings from companies, and all the fun messages received from recruiters.  We want to use this as a starting point to spark discussion about what's wrong, what the cause(s) are, and how we can start making things better.
